The recently published, in time for IndyFest 2015, The Milwaukee Mile was written to tell the Track's long and historic story. I wanted people to understand why those who are passionate about it - want the track saved. From the days of Harness racing up through today, it's jam packed with drivers, track changes, everything that contributed to the great memories so many generations have tucked away. To "Save the Mile" is more than a slogan, it's a feeling, an emotion - we can't let it slip away.

Save the Mile. Been attending Indy races over 30+ years. If they race, I will be there!

We need the Indy car race in Milwaukee, my son went to his first race this year. I'm hoping it is not his last IndyCar race at the mile.

I have been a past season ticket holder at the mile and I could not agree more then with David Hobbs comment during the race yesterday that the powers are willing to spend $250 million to keep the BUCKS here but do nothing to save the historic Milwaukee Mile - hmmmm politics????

I grew up just blocks from the track and have gone every year since I was young. A lot of people love the track but it needs a more reasonable, consistent date as well as more modern amenities to help attract the younger crowds.

It would be very out of order for the Milwaukee Mile to have to bite the dust. A track with endless history, it's not just another oval. It's the oldest auto racing track in the United States of America, and a unique one as well. The closing of this venue would remove a significant part of American history, and that is certainly not something that needs to be done. If the decision is made to close the race track, I can guarantee that the people in charge of the decision will regret doing so in the future.

Let's keep racing (Indy Cars) at the Milwaukee Mile. Milwaukee needs this. The world gets to see the race, track, and Milwaukee as a sports entertainment venue. It's great exposure for the entire area. We already lost the Circus Parade, the areas biggest attraction. Will we let racing at The Mile die too?

Save the Mile. It has history like the Kentucky Derby.
A better race series will replace the lame Indy Car Series soon...

They are kidding right? Grew up around the Mile in West Allis since childhood, now live in southern Cal. That mile itself should be a historical landmark for Milwaukee giving its long history.
That track has got to be one of the oldest racing venue's in the world. Many fond memories of Rodger Ward, AJ Foyt, Mario etc etc. and lets not to mention the local modified celebrities Miles Milieus, Fasbender, Burtzer pardon the bad spelling of the names.
Respectfully,

This track is the heart of auto racing in Wisconsin, representing its rich heritage, no less than a museum. It deserves to be cherished and preserved. Also, the current facility is first-rate and the IndyCar race and event promotion has never been better. Let's support this!

My family has attended races at the milwaukee mile for more than 80 years. It is very special to our family and was instrumental in launching my own racing career that lasted 16 years.

Aside from the Indianapolis 500, this is the race I always look forward to. In terms of history and prestige in open wheel racing it is probably second only to the IMS. It is a racing institution. It is a right of passage for the USA's and the world's greatest drivers. I agree that the track needs to be sold to someone who understands this or management that understands this and knows how to market the race needs to be put in place. It should not be developed into just another set of condos, strip malls, or cheap suburban housing. There is enough of that already. There is only 1 of the oldest continually used race tracks in the world and that's the Mile. Honestly, it should be designated a historical landmark. It will be a sad chapter in racing history if the Milwaukee Mile is destroyed.
