I grew up in West Allis to the sound of racing. My heros were on the Mile. The Iconic Mile Moment is Sunday morning when the neighborhood church bells ring followed by that other beautiful sound...racing engine starts!

Sometimes we have a lack of imagination in our town. We could have a vintage race car museum at the Mile that would be a year around attraction. Unlike many racing museums, it would have "pride of place" because it belongs there. Imagine families coming to our town to see two authentic museums for race cars and motorcycles. We could have a special day each year where we exercise vehicles from both on Amercia's oldest running track. To see and hear that would be nothing less than living history.

I'll volunteer some time and effort toward this. Who else is in?

We feel that the Milwaukee Mile is an important piece of motor racing history and every attempt should be made to keep it as an active racing facility. Thanks in advance.

Went to the mile for the first time last year. Had great time. This track can't be lost, it's an important part of history.

Historical Venues in all Sports are endangered by the modern facilities with all the amenities. Love going to "The Mile" for the pure racing. History needs and deserves to be saved.

The oldest race track in America, and oldest operating racetrack in the world is worth preserving. It is a magnificent track.

Awsome place to watch races from old BGN, Craftsman Truck and Indy car. Don't let this place go. WI keep this one.

i'm an american's motorsport enthusiast till i was born, and the milwaukee mile is the most historic Still-in-use speedway in the world. I sincerely hope that there will be the possibility to save it and to re-host Indycar & Nascar events.

What a real disappointment to witness the demise of a national landmark. I'm no expert on auto racing, but as a fan, I can't understand why this place fails to attract crowds for races? Someone, or some group, must have the ability???

I started going to CART races 30 years ago at "The Mile" with my Grandfather. Sad to see that it has lost the Indy Race. My family has made it an annual event and I was hoping to continue the tradition with my kids. It is hard to understand how Indycar can't somehow retain some history.

MY DAD TOOK ME TO MY FIRST RACE WHEN I WAS TWO YEARS OLD. THAT WAS BACK IN 1952. THE MEMORIES ARE STILL IN MY MIND AND I HOPE THEY WILL CONTINUE FOR YEARS TO COME. THE MILWAUKEE MILE WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE TRACK. ALL OF THE BEST DRIVERS PAST AND PRESENT LOVE THIS TRACK FOR ITS CHARACTER AND COMPETITION. FATHERS AND SONS LIKE THE BETTENHAUSENS, ANDRETTIS, UNSERS, AND OTHERS LOVE THIS TRACK. ALSO LETS NOT FORGET GREAT DRIVERS LIKE REX MAYS, CHUCK STEVENSON, JIM HURTIBISE, EDDIE SACHS, AJ FOYT PARNELLI JONES, JOE LEONARD, GORDON JOHKCOCK, MIKE MOSELEY AND ALL THE GREAT NAMES OF RACING. I PRAY THAT SOMEONE COMES FORWARD WITH A SOLUTION TO BRING BACK GREAT RACING MEMORIES FOR FAMILIES AND FANS AT 'THE MILWAUKEE MILE' LIKE IT DID FOR MY FAMILY AND ALL THE LOYAL RACING FANS OF "THE GREAT MILWAUKEE MILE". We have a state treasure with the Milwaukee Mile! Many generations have been coming to events there for years, it's a great family event! It's something once lost can never be brought back again!
