The slide started when they would not let you drive to the infield, therefore no tailgating. I long for the 70's and 80's. Watch some youtube videos of those races, the infield was full to capacity.

Don't let the mile die,I didn't miss a race in the 60s.
My daughter saw her 1st Indy race her at the mile.
Went to most of the races through the years.
It was Milwaukee after Indy
Please don't let this historic track die.
