Griffin McGrath was the fast qualifier and drew a 7 for the invert to start on the inside of row four. Rebecca Kasten started on point and led the first 32 laps until McGrath took the top spot. Kasten passed McGrath on a restart at lap 77 to lead one more lap, but McGrath reclaimed the top spot on lap 78 and never relinquished the lead.
Rebecca Kasten brought the field down to the green flag alongside fellow Wisconsin driver Jesse Saunders. Kasten got out to the early lead while Saunders slid back through the field, plummeting to the 6th position by lap number two. However, fast qualifier and eventual race winner, Griffin McGrath, worked his way up from the seventh starting spot to fourth by lap 14 as he worked around rookie driver Erik Jones.
By lap 20, McGrath found himself running in the third position after passing 2007 ASALMS North Champion, Trent Snyder. McGrath began to chase down 2007 ASALMS South Champion Jeff Choquette, who was in second spot, but could not pass him before the first caution flag at lap 25. Under the yellow, Choquette, Snyder, and Saunders opted to come in for adjustments, giving up their track position to adjust the handling on their cars.
