Racing For Kids Returns as Official Charity of Milwaukee IndyFest

Racing For Kids will return for the third year as Official Charity of the ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250 at Milwaukee IndyFest Presented by the Metro Milwaukee Honda Dealers.  As part of the renewed partnership, Verizon IndyCar Series drivers will visit patients at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin on Thursday, August 14, and host kids and their families at the track on opening practice day—Friday, August 15.

“We are delighted to partner with Racing For Kids for the third consecutive year,” said Kevin Healy— General Manager Milwaukee IndyFest.  “Seeing the smiles of all the kids we get to visit and tour around the track reminds you just how special racing is, and life.  We’re happy to keep giving back in this way.”

Racing for Kids will return to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin—site of the organization’s first hospital visit—on Thursday of Milwaukee IndyFest race week.  Celebrating its 25th year, Racing For Kids drivers have spent time with more than 27,000 hospitalized children at over 525 hospitals and healthcare institutions around the nation.  Since its inception, the charity has donated more than $6 million to the hospitals it visits and other deserving healthcare institutions and organizations devoted to the care of children.  On Friday, young outpatients and their families will receive a special tour of the Milwaukee Mile as teams set up and practice for Sunday’s race.

“Our partnership with Andretti Autosport and Andretti Sports Marketing has been very significant to the growth and scope of Racing For Kids over the past three years,” said Pat Wright—Executive Director, Racing For Kids.  “Being the Official Charity of Milwaukee IndyFest is a special honor since we have a long time relationship with the city and its medical community.  Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin was the site of our very first hospital visit.”
