Racing at the Milwaukee Mile in 2012?

The ASA Midwest Tour announced their schedule this week and it includes a 150 mile race on Tuesday, June 12th at the Milwaukee Mile.

One of the biggest additions to the 2012 schedule is the inclusion of the famed, historic Milwaukee Mile on Tuesday, June 12th for a 150 mile event. “We have some major news pertaining to the Milwaukee Mile event that is unreleased, and we hope that in the next month we'll have all of the details finalized. It’s our plan to include the first ever Big 8 Series race as the under card to our main event, so the pits at Milwaukee will be full of the best stars of the Midwest.”

A lot of questions remain about the viability of racing at the Milwaukee Mile on a Tuesday evening.  However, as details emerge about the weekend, it is being billed as a tribute race for Howie Lettow.  For those of you who may not recognize the Lettow name, he was a well respected short track crew chief who mentored none other than  "Five Time" Jimmie Johnson on his way to the top.  Along the way, Lettow also helped a number of other drivers such as David Stremme, Kelly Bires and Tony Raines.  As a tribute to Lettow, it is reported that Jimmie Johnson is considering participating in the Tuesday night race.  It is also anticipated that several other NASCAR stars may make the trip to the legendary Milwaukee Mile for the tribute race.

Stay tuned for more details!
